Endless stuck loop

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I am giving it instructions to change something on a webpage and it will reply either with HTML that it’s supposed to be changing, or with some weird commands like this:
“<read_file>
<target_file>public/pages/account/ChallengeDetailsPage.tsx
<should_read_entire_file
True
<start_line_one_indexed
1
<end_line_one_indexed
300
<|tool▁call▁end|><|tool▁calls▁end|>”

It doesn’t actually make any changes though.

Steps to Reproduce

I am just using it as normal and then it suddenly happens out of nowhere.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report. Could you let me know if this happens in a new chat? Also, could you let me know which model you are using?

That was another odd thing, if I restarted Cursor all the old chat was still there, there was no new chat and I couldn’t seem to be able to start a new chat either. I had the “auto” switch on, so I’m not sure which model it was trying, if I switched it to “off” then claude-4-sonnet was checked. But we were using “auto”

Thanks for the additional info, we’ll check it.

Hey, please update to version 1.6.26 and let me know if the issue still persists.

It hasn’t happened again in a while. Not sure if it was just the code we were trying to get to work that was causing it or what. Been working solid for a few weeks now. We did have it randomly switch to Chinese once, that was wild, but other than that been all good. Thanks for looking into it and the updates.
