Enhance Composer with Custom Model Context Integration

Currently, the Cursor editor’s composer feature (both in normal and agent modes) only supports predefined language models. While these models work well for many scenarios, they sometimes struggle with complex user requests, potentially leading to suboptimal response cycles.

In contrast, Cursor’s chat mode allows users to import and utilize custom language models, some of which demonstrate superior capabilities in deep analytical thinking and complex problem-solving. However, this functionality is not available in the composer feature.

As a user, I propose enhancing the composer feature to allow integration with custom model contexts from specific chat conversations. This enhancement would enable the following:

  1. Seamless transition of context between chat and composer;

  2. More consistent and higher quality responses;

  3. Better handling of complex programming scenarios.

This enhancement would significantly improve the workflow for users who rely on specific models for their development tasks while maintaining Cursor’s streamlined experience.
