Expose AskQuestion (tile) tool on the Project coordinator agent surface

Feature request for product/service

Cursor Web

Describe the request

In the Projects feature, the coordinator agent that runs the main Project chat doesn’t have the AskQuestion (“tile”) tool registered. The only user-facing output tool on that surface is SendMessage, so every question the coordinator asks lands as a plain chat message instead of the inline tile I get from ordinary cloud agents and the IDE in-editor chat.

This causes a worse UX inside a Project chat than outside it:

Questions bury themselves in scrollback instead of surfacing as a tile I can answer in one click.
I can tell the coordinator “always ask questions as a tile,” but it genuinely can’t comply — the tool is simply not in the registry (confirmed via its dynamic-tools catalog: AwaitShell, CreateGoal, Delete, EditNotebook, FetchMcpResource, GenerateImage, GetPrCodeTour, SetActiveBranch, TodoWrite, UpdateGoal, UpdatePrCodeTour, WebFetch, WebSearch — no AskQuestion).
Behavior is inconsistent across surfaces: tiles work on workers and standalone cloud agents, but not on the Project coordinator that spawns them.
Please register the AskQuestion / tile tool on the Project coordinator surface so coordinator agents can use it the same way standalone cloud agents already do.

Hi Shaun,

Thanks for the detailed write-up, and for checking the coordinator’s tool list. That made this easy to look into. What you’re seeing is intended for now. The Project coordinator is set up to ask questions as regular chat messages rather than question tiles. The coordinator is woken regularly by updates from the agents it’s managing, and that doesn’t fit well with a tile that pauses the conversation while it waits for your answer. Agents you work with directly, including the Project’s workers, still use tiles as usual.

You’re right that this makes the experience inconsistent across surfaces, and the point about questions getting buried in scrollback is a fair one. I’ve passed this along to the team as feedback.

In the meantime, it can help to ask the coordinator to put any questions at the end of its message as a short numbered list with options. That makes them easier to spot and lets you answer everything in one reply. I’ll post here if anything changes.

Thank you for your quick reply! It could collect tiles and display “1/N” to indicate that you’re looking at the first of N tiles, which you can then click through and answer.
