Extensible Cursor Chat: Predictive AI-Generated UI & Custom Shortcut Buttons

Hi Cursor Team and Community,

I’d like to propose a feature that could further elevate the power and usability of Cursor Chat. In short, I’m suggesting that the chat interface become fully extensible—allowing users to add lightweight plugins, custom shortcut buttons, and even AI-generated UI elements.

Key Points

  1. Extensible Cursor Chat Interface (Plugin-Ready)
Allow users to install small extensions directly into the chat panel, opening the door to deeply customized workflows.

  2. Custom Shortcut Buttons
One immediate use case is adding buttons that trigger Managed Custom Prompts (MCPs) or other frequently used prompts. Instead of re-typing recurring commands, a user could click “Refactor Selection,” “Generate Tests,” or any other custom action.

  3. Predictive AI-Generated UI
As the conversation evolves, Cursor analyzes context and anticipates upcoming tasks. It then automatically creates and places convenient UI elements—such as shortcut buttons for relevant prompts or MCPs—so that by the time the user needs an action, the control is already in place.

Benefits

  • Streamlines repetitive workflows and reduces prompt entry time.
  • Makes complex prompts and MCPs accessible to every user.
  • Fosters a plugin ecosystem and third-party innovation around Cursor Chat.
  • Enables each developer to craft a chat interface perfectly tailored to their projects.

I believe this aligns with Cursor’s AI-first vision and would be a valuable addition for the community. If you support this idea, please reply or give it a thumbs-up so the team knows it’s valuable.

Thank you for considering this request.
