First two hours with Cursor

I was struggling with an education app that I couldn’t finish in bolt due to errors. Initially I was impressed, however as I continued to try and add the the final Elements Cursor started to remove functions from the app so much so I was having to start again in some areas. Should I give up? I’m a none coder.

hi @Rob_Reich-Storer you may need to first ask agent to create a project overview and report issues in structure and design of the app.

When creating an app its important to list the features and capabilities you need. Then you ask agent to plan the features and follow development best practices like SOLID & DRY. (AI can explain that very well) as Feature Request Documents (FRDs).

Then once you are happy with the agents plan you ask it to implement one step at a time.

Just continuing on a project that was problematic elsewhere will not lead to a good outcome unless its cleaned up and structured properly.

You do not need to be a coder but you have to watch out for things that are not well structured and AI can explain that too.

Lots of YT content on cursor.

Use sonnet thinking to make a plan, and gpt5-high to implement. Sonnet has a good chance to understand what you want, gpt takes a while but keeps doing what it should, and nothing else.
