wen? pls?

It might already be working in Cursor (or at least won’t be hard to add).

It least according to this, it’s noticeably better (finally beating Sonnet 3.7)

Bruh it’s been only one and a half-month since the legendary 2.5 pro and Google’s been cooking harder than a Michelin star chef, I’m excited about this one

Could we get some feedback about when this is expected? Will it require an update or just show up in the list for 0.49? We’re all chomping at the bit, unsurprisingly.

Update: I missed AbleArcher’s post, above. I suspect they’re right and it’s already working, but with the super confusing gemini-2.5-pro-exp-03-25 name. I know naming is hard and all, but this is next-level.

Patiently waiting…

The Cursor account isn’t very active on X, but the developers are.

There’s also a Cursor Community which often has helpful posts.

Model name changes can be pushed without updating Cursor so it’s surprising no ones bothered to change the model name yet.

Why make a 3 character diff when you can write hundreds of characters explaining it?

Will test it now and hopefully, it “actually” outperforms Sonnet 3.7 I liked that model, but it was frustrating to constantly rein in its excitement and get it to follow instructions.

What we use now is definitely a different version of the model. In some areas it certainly is better. But I find it struggling where it really matters, f.e. with following a larger number of project rules. Even in cases where 03-25 version did just fine.

It’s constantly failing to actually edit code for me.
Hopefully it’s sorted out soon since the previously working version is not longer available.

It’s worse for me. It started to have an ADHD like Sonnet 3.7 or even worse. Often times it adds a lot of unnecessary changes not related to prompt at all.

Is there a way to roll back to the previous version of Gemini (2.5-pro-max)? Can we restrict it to that version that was working just great so that it doesn’t automatically go to 05-06?

minor update:
I am getting better results today, so I don’t know if it was because something happened behind the scenes, or just dumb luck.

Well, I don’t think the gemini-2.5-pro-exp-03-25 in Cursor is the gemini-2.5-pro-preview-05-06 new model… Because cursor’s gemini-2.5-pro-exp-03-25 cannot answer this ARC-AGI question, but google ai studio’s gemini-2.5-pro-preview-05-06 can, I have tested it for many times

Any update on this?

I believe 100% traffic is not rerouted to the new model. Some is. Some is not.
This “we replaced the old model and traffic from the old is routed to the new” is fishy.
Let user chose explicitely the model they want to use.
That’s not on Cursor but on Google.

It is hoped that the cursor developers can update the latest Gemini on May 6th as soon as possible

how to fix this error?
I tried removing the model and adding it again, to no avail.
the 03-25 model works fine, but the 05-06 model gives me this error.

Don’t fix it. There is no longer 03-25 model available anymore. It was REPLACED by 05-06. So when you use a model named 03-25, you use 05-06.

Why there’s no naming update in Cursor, is a different story though.

And whether Google still doesn’t use 03-25 for some requests, like it was suggested above.
