Been getting this error message for gemini 2.5 pro for the last 2 days:
We’re having trouble connecting to the model provider. This might be temporary - please try again in a moment.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Do you have MCP servers enabled? Specifically, MCP servers for Git and Notion? If so, please try to disable them, as they are causing this error. We are also working on a fix.

@deanrie yes i just verified it, it is caused by notion mcp
