Grok Bot 0.30.0 stuck on black loading screen on Windows 11

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

Grok Bot 0.30.0 on Windows 11 is stuck on a black loading screen with a white spinner and cannot load my Grok Bot computer.

The app previously worked when I switched from my corporate LAN to an iPhone hotspot. However, the problem now occurs on both the corporate LAN and the iPhone hotspot.

Troubleshooting already completed:

  • Fully terminated all Grok Bot processes and relaunched.
  • Tested on two different networks: corporate LAN and iPhone hotspot.
  • Launched with --disable-gpu; issue persisted.
  • Browser authentication completes successfully.
  • api.cursor.com is reachable successfully over HTTPS.
  • cursorvm.com DNS/TCP/HTTPS connectivity tests succeed.
  • While the black spinner is displayed, Grok Bot has multiple established outbound TCP/443 connections.
  • Captured Chromium diagnostic and NetLog data; no definitive client-side network failure was identified.
  • Cursor itself works normally on this computer.

Earlier, Grok Bot also displayed:

  • “Can’t reach your computer”
  • “Reconnecting to your computer”
  • “Showing saved messages”

I have NOT reset or recovered the Grok Bot computer because I want to avoid destructive changes before determining whether the hosted computer/session is unhealthy.

Please check whether the Grok Bot hosted computer associated with my account is stuck, unhealthy, or failing to boot, and whether it needs

to be recovered/rebuilt server-side.

Environment:

  • Grok Bot: 0.30.0
  • OS: Windows 11
  • Networks tested: corporate LAN and iPhone mobile hotspot

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Launch Grok Bot 0.30.0 on Windows 11.
  2. Sign in/authenticate when prompted.
  3. Grok Bot opens but remains on a black screen with a white loading spinner.
  4. Wait several minutes; the Grok Bot computer does not load.
  5. Fully terminate all Grok Bot processes and relaunch; the same issue occurs.
  6. Switch between corporate LAN and an iPhone mobile hotspot and relaunch; the same issue occurs on both networks.

Expected Behavior

Grok Bot should connect to and load my hosted Grok Bot computer normally after launch and authentication, allowing me to access my conversations and use the application.

Version Information

Grok Bot:
Version: 0.30.0
Product Version: 0.30.0.0
OS: Windows 11

Additional Information

The issue occurs before I can use Grok Bot normally, so there is no specific AI model or Request ID associated with this failure.

The issue has been reproduced on both my corporate LAN and an iPhone mobile hotspot. Cursor IDE itself continues to work normally.

Please check the health/status of the hosted Grok Bot computer associated with my account before recommending a reset or recovery.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey @Edwin_Cunanan, thanks for the detailed report. From our side, your Grok Bot computer is healthy and has been reachable all day.

The pattern points to Zscaler. Your traffic is leaving through Zscaler on both the corporate LAN and the iPhone hotspot, so Client Connector is still tunneling everything when you switch networks.

Two things to try:

  1. Fully quit Grok Bot (Task Manager), switch to the hotspot, then pause or turn off Zscaler (if IT policy allows), and relaunch. If it loads, that confirms the network path is the blocker.
  2. Ask IT to allowlist and exclude from SSL inspection both *.cursorvm.com and ..cursorvm.com (both levels are needed). Full domain list and verification steps are here.

We’re also working on longer-term fixes for enterprise environments.
