Grok Bot: "Can't reach your computer" after Retry and Recover, *.cursorvm.com unreachable (Windows, India)

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

My Grok Bot is unusable. I get two errors:

  1. “Can’t reach your computer. Your Bots are safe, they just can’t be loaded right now.”
  2. “Can’t Reach Grok Bot’s Computer. A firewall, VPN, or proxy such as Zscaler may be blocking the connection. *.cursorvm.com”

I am not on a corporate network and not using Zscaler. Retry and Recover computer have not fixed it. Screenshots attached. Location: India.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Grok Bot.
  2. Bots do not load; “Can’t reach your computer” appears.
  3. Click Retry: same error.
  4. Click Recover computer: does not fix it.
  5. Fully quit and reopen: now shows “Can’t Reach Grok Bot’s Computer … *.cursorvm.com”.

Expected Behavior

Bot computer becomes reachable and my Bots load, with files and logins preserved. Could you please check my Grok Bot computer from your side and rebuild or restore it on the backend if needed?

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report and screenshots. I can see both screens, Can’t reach your computer and the cover page with *.cursorvm.com / Zscaler.

Good news, your Grok Bot computer on our side is working fine. Your Bots, files, and logins are all still there. The issue is that the Grok Bot app on your PC can’t reach our servers at all right now. Neither Retry nor Recover is leaving the machine, so it can’t upload anything. No need to keep clicking Recover, it won’t change anything from here. Also, the *.cursorvm.com mention in the error is misleading. The real problem is that the app can’t establish a connection.

Your app version is also very old, and it couldn’t auto-update. The updater uses the same blocked channel. So let’s start with a clean reinstall.

  1. Right-click the Grok Bot icon in the system tray bottom-right near the clock and click Quit. Then open Task Manager and make sure there are no Grok Bot processes left.
  2. Download the latest installer from Cursor · Download Grok Bot and run it.
  3. Open Grok Bot, sign in with the same account, and give it about 2 minutes.

If it still can’t reach the computer:

  1. If you have an antivirus or security app with web protection or HTTPS / encrypted connection scanning enabled, for example Kaspersky, Quick Heal, ESET, Avast, AVG, Norton, Bitdefender, add Grok Bot to exclusions or temporarily disable that scanning. Then quit and reopen Grok Bot.
  2. Open Command Prompt, run curl.exe -sI https://api2.cursor.sh, and paste the output here.
  3. Quick test: connect your PC to your phone hotspot, quit and reopen Grok Bot, wait 2 minutes, and tell me if it loads.

Also, do your Bots show up right now in the Grok Bot Android app? That’ll help narrow down the cause.
