Describe the Bug

When I talk to my bot in a voice call in the Grok Bot iPhone app, the bot cannot read or write my phone calendar. During the call the iPhone is listed as not connected and the phone tools (calendar, reminders, contacts) are missing for the bot. No error message is shown. As soon as the call ends, the phone reconnects and the same request works immediately.

When: 25 Oct 2026 around 16:50 CET and 26 Oct 2026 around 17:45 CET (twice)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Start a voice call with a bot in the Grok Bot iPhone app.
  2. Ask it to read or add an event in the phone calendar.
  3. The bot reports the phone is not connected and calendar tools are unavailable.
  4. End the call and send the same request in text chat: it works.

Expected Behavior

The bot can read and write the phone calendar during a voice call.

This is how phone tools work right now rather than something wrong on your side. Calendar, reminders and contacts run inside the Grok Bot app, so your iPhone only counts as connected while the app is open on screen. Voice calls are built to keep going when the phone locks or you switch to another app, and when that happens the phone most likely drops offline for the bot. That’s why the same request works once you’re back in the app after the call.

The team knows people want phone tools to keep working during calls and is looking at it.

In the meantime, keeping Grok Bot open on screen for the whole call should keep the phone connected. The call screen doesn’t stop your iPhone from auto-locking, so you can set Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock to Never while you’re on the call and switch it back afterwards. Asking in text with the app open also works, as you saw.
