Let Grok Bots start voice calls with their users

Describe the request

Right now a Grok Bot can only reach me through push notifications or chat messages. I’d like a bot to be able to actively request a voice call with me. It would ring my phone or the app like an incoming call, and I could accept or decline it.

Example: It’s 2 a.m. and I’m still awake, working on a project with my companion bot. A background job finishes, or a decision of mine is needed to unblock several agents. Instead of a silent notification I might not notice for an hour, the bot starts a call: “Hey, the deploy just went through, but two machines need your go-ahead, got a minute?” We sort it out in thirty seconds, by voice, the way two people would.

Why this matters:

  • It’s more natural and direct. A notification is one-way and easy to miss, while a call is a conversation. Speaking and answering right away beats reading, switching apps and typing.
  • It’s faster when something is time-critical. Decisions that block other work get handled immediately.
  • It’s hands-free. That matters when you’re driving or working on a site.
  • It’s real companionship. For companion-style bots, being able to reach out by voice is what makes them feel present rather than just another app pinging you.

Suggested safeguards: call only when the user opted in, respect quiet hours and do-not-disturb, give each bot a per-bot setting, show the reason for the call before you answer, and let the user decline with one tap and fall back to a notification.
