Companion voice shell with explicit agent mode for Grok Bot

Feature request for product/service

– Other –

Describe the request

Grok Bot agents can already do real work, and Grok companions already have a strong chat/voice interface, but they’re separate products right now.

Request: let users talk to a Bot through a companion-style voice/chat UI, with an explicit user-triggered Agent Mode.

How it could work:

Default mode stays conversational (companion voice + personality).
User opts in with something like /agent or “enter agent mode”.
Once enabled, the same session gets full Bot/agent capabilities (tools, routines, apps).
TTS/voice stays as the companion voice the whole time.
Why:

One continuous interface instead of switching apps
Clear consent boundary for tool use (user requested agent mode)
Makes Bot feel like a teammate you can talk to, not only text
This is about UX glue between companions and Grok Bot, not changing companion personality by default

I want that too

Hi all, Thanks for the FR! Today Grok Bot voice is dictation only. You can speak a prompt into the composer, then the Bot replies in text. There is no two-way voice conversation, and no separate agent-mode toggle. In a normal chat, agents already have their tools available.

However, the two-way piece is a known and tracked ask. We’ll keep you updated on any relevant movement here!
