Grok Bot: no glanceable working/finishing signal unless the pointer is on the bot icon

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Somewhere else…

Describe the Bug

Grok Bot (Cursor)

The only live cue that a bot is working is an icon animation, and that animation is only visible when the pointer is directly on that bot’s icon. There is no persistent, glanceable signal that a bot is working, close to finishing, or idle.

Actual Behavior: To know whether a bot is still running, I have to hover the icon or ask the bot for the result. Silence in chat is not “still working.”

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Ask a bot to run a multi-step job (leave the chat, or look at the sidebar without hovering).
  2. Watch the sidebar / chat header without putting the pointer on that bot’s icon.
  3. There is no persistent working / finishing / idle state.
  4. Move the pointer onto the icon: the animation is visible only then.
  5. To find out if the job is done, ask “what’s the result.”

Expected Behavior

A persistent, glanceable signal that a bot is working, close to finishing, or idle — visible without hovering the icon animation.

Operating System

Linux

Version Information

Unsure of the exact build on 15 Aug 2026. Last reported on this account: Cursor 3.15.6 (Grok Bot 0.16.0). Happy to fill the current build on post.

Additional Information

This is a missing status surface, not a bot-config issue. Chat pings are not a substitute (silence ≠ progress). Documented UI (sidebar, settings, per-agent info pane: computer preview + routines) has no working/finishing indicator.

Related live miss: I commissioned a job, asked for the result while it was still waiting, because I could not see busy vs done.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Feature request for product/service

Chat

Describe the request

Chat / Grok Bot group chats

When a bot is working in a group chat, hovering that bot shows “{name} bot is working”. That text is only on hover.

I want it visible without hover. A live “working” state on the bot (or in the room) so I can see a long task is in progress.

If I could see that, I would not need written status updates every 60 seconds on long jobs.

Early beta. Grok Bot.

Operating System (if it applies)

MacOS

Thanks for the great UX feedback! We’ve had some internal reports of this as well, and I’ve added your reports to that feedback.
