Grok Bot: please add an iCloud Mail connector

Feature request for product/service

Describe the request

Hi, I use Grok Bot daily and would love an official iCloud Mail connector, so my bots can search and read my iCloud email like they already can with Gmail and Outlook. ChatGPT already offers an iCloud Mail integration, and many Apple users rely on iCloud as their main mailbox. Read access with an app-specific password would already be a big help. Thanks!

Hi @alpenmail_user!

Thanks for the feedback! There’s no official iCloud Mail connector yet like the ones for Gmail and Outlook, but there are two ways to get there today:

  • Mail on a connected Mac: if your iCloud account is set up in the Mail app on your Mac, Grok Bot can search and read it there. Open Grok Bot on your Mac and allow Mail access when it asks. This only works while your Mac is on and connected.
  • A custom MCP server: you can add a community iCloud Mail MCP server, such as icloud-mail-mcp, as a custom connector. It signs in with an iCloud app-specific password. It’s a third-party project, not something we maintain, so check it out before giving it your credentials.

Which platform do you mainly use Grok Bot on: Mac, or something else?

Hi Colin,

Thanks so much for the quick and helpful reply, I really appreciate it!

I mainly use Grok Bot on Windows and on my Android phone, so the Mac option unfortunately doesn’t work for me. I’d also rather not rely on a third-party server with my Apple credentials.

What I’d really love is an official iCloud Mail connector, like the ones you already have for Gmail and Outlook, that can both read and send emails. Could you please pass this on to the team as a feature request? I think many iCloud users would find it really useful.

Thanks again for your help

We are tracking traction for Apple ecosystem connectors for users without a Mac. I’ve added your vote!

Hi Colin,

But there wasn’t there an official release for many iCloud connectors?

I connected them at the beginning and then suddenly they were just gone from the Mac and iOS version, but I couldn’t find any announcement that there are problems and nobody else really seems to have problems with it.

What is the status there? Do they have to be relaunched?

Thanks for the help

Hi @Josua_Badertscher,

That announcement is about phone tools: your bot can use the Calendar, Reminders and Contacts apps on your iPhone (plus a few more, like alarms and location). They run inside the Grok Bot app on your phone rather than through an iCloud connection, so they’re separate from the iCloud Mail connector this thread asks for, which isn’t available yet.

Right now the phone tools only work while the Grok Bot app is open on your iPhone. When it’s in the background or closed, your iPhone shows as offline and your bots can’t use those tools, including from chats on your Mac. Opening the app again reconnects it. Making them work in the background is something the team is looking at.

If the tools are still missing while the app is open on your iPhone, could you share your Grok Bot app version and a screenshot of where you’d expect to see them? That will help us check what’s going on.

Hi @Colin
So sorry, I feel so stupid now.
I can’t tell you how many times I have looked through all the connectors on my phone.
Only now I see the iPhone category button at the top of the connectors.
But still a bit confusing, that they don’t show up under “connected apps”. I guess because it’s technically not a connector but a privacy setting…

And yes I really thought mail was among those too. Surely would be great to see it in the future!

Sorry again for the unnecessary work mate.

Thank you

All good
