Grok Bot: restore existing agents that fail with “Bot failed to respond” since Oct 8 — do not Reset

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Grok Bot

Describe the Bug

Several existing Grok Bot agents on this account return “Bot failed to respond / Something went wrong while generating the reply. Try again.” Other bots on the same account and the same computer still reply. Please restore these existing agents with their history, memory, and routines intact. Do not Reset the computer.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Grok Bot 0.68.1 on macOS.
  2. Open one of the agents listed below (or the group chat).
  3. Send a short message, for example “are you there?” on the advisor reviewer bot.
  4. The banner appears and no reply is stored.

This started Oct 8, 2026 around 11:12 America/Chicago. A 1:1 on the advisor bot failed Oct 9 at 5:43pm (request 477424dd-4042-497a-ab4d-471541cadd28).

Expected Behavior

These same agents should reply again, with history, memory, and routines kept. Reset should not be required.

Other bots on this account (VC, AI Reporter, Clone Dev Reporter, Greencard) still reply, so this is not a full computer outage.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hi @Han_Seyeong, thanks for the report and for listing the bot IDs.

We looked into these bots. Their runner and your computer are fine. Since Oct 8, the model provider’s safety filter has been flagging something in these bots’ conversation history as sensitive biology content, which can happen with scientific research topics. Every new message is sent together with that history, so every reply gets refused. Right now the app shows that as the generic “Something went wrong” message instead of saying the reply was blocked. That’s also why a Reset wouldn’t help, so you were right not to run one.

The bots’ history, memory and routines are all still there, and nothing has been deleted. I’ve passed this to the team, including your request to get these specific bots working again with their history intact. Today there isn’t a way in the app to remove only the blocked part of a conversation.

In the meantime:

  1. Use one of your other bots, or a new one, for new work.
  2. Please don’t ask another bot (or the group chat) to read, summarize or continue these bots’ chats. That can carry the same content over and get that bot blocked too.
  3. A new bot can also run into the same filter if its conversation covers similar biology material.
