Grok Bot: search chat history

Feature request for product/service

Describe the request

Product: Grok Bot

Please add in-app search across Grok Bot chat history (keywords, optionally by bot and date). Today there is no usable way to search past messages in a bot conversation, which makes finding prior decisions and setup notes slow.

Also sent through in-app feedback.

Workarounds

Bots are apparently quite adept at semantic searching in all chats – not only their own.

However, this kind of “search” costs us credits and pollutes conversations.

Conceivably, one could create a separate Chat Search bot for this sole application.

More ambitiously, Chat Search bot could vibe-code a deterministic script that searches for strings in chat JSONL files already stored on your Grok Chat computer. One catch: these files aren’t instantly updated.

Hey @Capital_EyeMotors, thanks for the suggestion!

You can already search your messages across all of your bots. On desktop, open Search (Cmd+K on Mac, Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux) and type a keyword. Matching messages and files show up with the bot they came from. Put the keyword in quotes (for example “api key”) to see every matching message. On mobile, tap search on the Home screen and choose the Messages filter.

If search has been coming back empty for you, update both the app and your Grok Bot computer to the latest version. A recent update fixed search for newer bots. The first search after updating may take a little while to include older messages.

Filtering by bot or by date isn’t available yet.
