I have additional information what happens if you upgrade your plan afterwards.
I experienced the 100 % phenomenon when I woke up at 8 am UTC +1. I was confused as I stopped working around 1 am with around 75 % maybe. However, I planned to upgrade to the Pro+ plan anyways, I just wanted to wait until the morning of the 1st.
After the Upgrade, the spending of Cursor and Other models was reset to 0%, but the Grok Bot spending was only reset to about 61 %.
This does not seem right, or is this supposed how it should be after an upgrade?
Happened to me as well. I went to bed with my usage at 70%, and when I woke up, it was suddenly at 100%, despite not having used it during that time. Something definitely seems wrong with how usage is being calculated or reported in the background.
Thanks Dean. Here are the details you asked for, from the original poster (ticket T-I91292 with [email protected]).
Spike time: Nov 1, about 12:18-12:22 AM ET (04:18-04:22 UTC). The in-app meter went 74%, 77%, 100%, 77%, 100%, then 77% again, live on screen.
What the bot reported at the same time: 77.4% at 04:18 UTC, 77.7% at 04:21 UTC, and 79% at 04:37 UTC, all with the same reset date (Fri Nov 6). So the bot’s own reading stayed in the high 70s after the spike window, while the app flipped to 100%.
After that, everything locked at 100%, the bot’s report included. Routines failed with “no Grok Bot usage available” and the product stopped working. To keep working, I had to add money and turn on on-demand, so the inflated counter is now costing me real money.
Please make sure the fix includes recalculating the weekly usage back to the real value and refunding any on-demand charges caused by the inflated counter. A lot of us in this thread are paying for usage we never got.
my usage got eaten too ~13h earlier.
the meter didnt flip but the thinking trail was suddenly in spanish and 20percent dissappeared over the next 15minutes. still no updates why this happened ?
ticket number is T-I93151 from support@xai
Sam is no help , i didnt realize Sam was a bot until i threatened to cancel my membership , which i have. After 7 hours of emails with him he asks me if i would like a human to look at the ticket. Are you kidding me … ive been stalled on a project for 7 hours because you ate my data or what ever TF happened, and then you tell me it may be 3 or 4 days before a human can look at the issue? I told it in 3 or 4 days i will have Grok replaced with a more reliable AI system.
I had the spanish stuff going on yesterday too, then this morning i get on and immediately get a popup of 90% usage , i was like no freaking way , then before i got that thought out … 100% usage your data will reset in 3 days.
I also have this problem. I jumped from somewhere in the 60%s overnight to 100% and incurring usage charges. I had grok run over my billing and it estimates that i should still be in the high 50s to low 60s based on points in the history I previously noted my usage rates.
I have a suspicion that this may have affected only older Cursor Ultra plans and that the changes in usage might be connected to the rollout of Unified X accounts. Which have less usage.
Call me crazy, but I have a strange feeling these two changes are related. It could be a coincidence, but the timing seems suspicious.
Same issue here, and I have hard numbers from my own usage export (weekly reset Friday 11:00, Europe/Berlin):
Week starting Oct 23: 1,418M tokens = 84.4% of my weekly limit
Week starting Oct 30: 413M tokens = 51.1% after just over 2 days
That’s about 3.5x less usage (total, non-cached input, and output alike) for more than 60% of the same share of the limit. Per percent, I’m now being charged roughly twice as much as last week. Something changed in how usage is counted.
I’m on an annual Cursor Ultra subscription. Support’s AI assistant (ticket T-I97021) only told me usage can’t be restored mid-week and that there’s no fix date. That’s not acceptable when the meter itself is wrong.
@Cursor team: please acknowledge this publicly, revert whatever changed in the calculation, and correct the affected weekly usage. A human response would be appreciated.
I’m on SuperGrok Heavy. When I went to bed on Saturday 31 October Finnish time (UTC+2), my weekly Grok Bot usage limit showed under 35% used (about 32%). When I woke up on Sunday 1 November (UTC+2), it showed 67.7% used.
I didn’t use my bots overnight. Only a few small scheduled routines ran, such as daily memory updates and a notes processor. Grok Bot’s own usage report backs this up. Over the last 7 days, Sunday 1 November (UTC) accounts for under 1% of my usage, and all of Saturday 31 October for 9%. That doesn’t come close to explaining a jump of about 35 percentage points in my weekly limit.
Grok Bot is business critical to me as I run everything for my business on Grok Bot and I’ve soon run out of all quota because of this jump. Reset is only Wednesday, so I really hope to get a quick resolution here!
Im in the same boat here , nothing quick about this resolution. Same tells me 3 to 4 days before a human will look at this because of all the volume or tickets they are getting. I took half a day off Saturday and decided to finish my project today. That didnt work out so great for me , sitting here with everything stuck since 4am. To accomplish my project without Grok now i would have to basicially restart from scratch and and start again. Ive been working on this about 4 days already… I am currently looking for an alternative to Grok completely after this.
I’ve contacted support, and the issue has been escalated to a human support specialist ( in 4 days though ).
I checked all my Bots, routines, scheduled tasks, and background activity. My primary Bot also confirms that no background work has run since yesterday.
Nothing explains the sudden increase from 34% to approximately 76%.
After restarting Grok Bot, the Bot and Settings now show the same percentage, but this doesn’t explain whether the additional usage was actually consumed or incorrectly deducted.
I’m waiting for the technical team to investigate the backend usage records.
Hopefully, Cursor will provide an explanation and restore incorrectly deducted usage for affected users.
Same here… I am just hoping OpenAI or Claude releases something more stable and with better pricing. Make sure to keep most of your work outside of Grok so you can plug the next AI agent into it.
Also, @deanrie, I am not misleading anyone; it seems totally related to the X unification, and if anyone is misleading people, it is X, cursor, totally obscured pricing, and usage dashboard.
I’m another paying customer who went from 52–53% usage Saturday night to 100% Sunday morning, with no recorded bot activity explaining the increase.
I’ve filed a support ticket and provided my usage logs. This has completely halted a major update to my paid SaaS platform, costing me time and money.
Cursor says a human review could take 3–4 days, but my usage resets Thursday. So what happens if they restore my missing usage just hours before it expires?
This is unacceptable. Cursor needs to acknowledge what’s happening, restore incorrectly deducted usage, and make affected customers whole. Marking an incident resolved while paying customers are still locked out is not a resolution.
Same thing happened to me, and I want to add as much detail as I can.
Plan: Cursor Pro+ (Grok Bot). It’s the older plan, and I’ve had several offers to move to the new X plan. My weekly limit resets Tue Nov 3 at 10:13 AM AZ.
What happened:
Sat Oct 31 at 8:52 PM AZ (11:52 PM ET), my weekly usage was 36.5%, and I was under my planned pace for the week (screenshot attached).
Sun Nov 1 around 11:56 AM AZ (1:56 PM ET), I woke up, checked, and got the in-app warning: 75% of my weekly limit (screenshot attached).
That’s a jump of about 39 points overnight. I had no overnight projects, no coding and nothing heavy running, just a couple of messages.
Why I don’t think it’s real usage: I watch my usage closely and pace myself between platforms so I stay well under my limits. When I asked my bot to break down this week’s usage by day, Saturday and Sunday together came to only about 10% of the week’s activity, which is roughly 7 or 8 points, not 39.
The pattern: My jump lines up with the timing everyone else is reporting here, starting around 12:18 AM ET on Nov 1.
Help us see who this hit: If your usage jumped too, please comment with the plan you’re on, or think you’re on (an older Cursor plan like Pro, Pro+ or Ultra, or the new X plan). Even a one-line reply helps. If enough of us share, we’ll see whether this mostly hit one type of plan.
My question to the team: Is this only hitting people on the older plans? Did anything change in how usage is metered overnight? I’d like to give the benefit of the doubt and assume it’s a glitch. But if usage rates changed, it should be announced, not show up as a surprise spike that pushes people to upgrade. For me, the X Premium bundles don’t make sense right now. There is absolutely no way that this was in fact my actual usage.
What I’m asking for:
Confirmation of whether this was a metering bug.
Correcting the affected weekly usage back to the real numbers.
A clear answer on whether usage rates changed for the older plans.
Thanks. I’m happy to share more details if it helps.
I’m on the legacy Cursor+ ($60) and had this happen, but I have seen comments from people experiencing this or something similar on the X Unified plans..
| Span | Calls | Context summed | Usage |
| -------------------------- | ----: | -------------: | ----: |
| Tue 1:15 PM – Wed 11:00 AM | 9,435 | 866 million | 52.5% |
| Wed 11:00 AM – Sat 6:00 PM | 2,137 | 163 million | ~65% |
| Sat 6:00 PM – Sat 11:02 PM | 52 | 2.9 million | ~65% |
| Sat 11:02 PM – Sun 6:52 AM | 0 | 0 | 100% |
I got Grok to parse my cursor usage logs. They just dont math. I also contacted support and am waiting on a human reply. The 52.5% was me asking the bot for usage, so I have a good number and a timestamp. The 65%'s are my approx recollection, validated by getting grok to parse my last 2 months of usage and predicting the expected value based on previous.
