Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing some significant performance issues with Cursor server on my development machine. While the server itself is quite powerful (for personal use), Cursor is occasionally consuming 100% CPU across all cores, which is causing problems with my other resource-intensive applications.
Current Situation:
- Running multiple trading bots and other CPU-intensive applications
- Cursor server sometimes maxes out all CPU cores (all red in htop)
- This causes lag and performance issues with other critical applications
- Even when “normal”, Cursor still uses significant CPU resources
Server Path showing high usage:
/root/.cursor-server/cli/servers/Stable-001668006cc714afd397f4ef0d52862f5a095530/server/node_modules/@vscode/ripgrep/bin/rg
Questions:
- Is there a way to limit Cursor’s CPU usage or configure resource constraints?
- Are there any known issues with ripgrep consuming excessive resources?
- Can we configure Cursor to use fewer cores or limit its background processes?
I’ve noticed this is particularly intensive when:
- Opening new files/projects
- During background indexing
- When using code intelligence features
Any suggestions for optimizing Cursor’s resource usage while maintaining functionality would be greatly appreciated. I need to ensure my trading bots maintain consistent performance.
System Details:
- Linux server
- Multiple cores (all being utilized by Cursor)
- Running latest Cursor version
Thanks in advance for any help or guidance!
