Notes

  • Reproduced while reviewing agent replies that include github.com/.../pull/N links.
  • Suspected interaction between link hover preview and chat webview/layout.
  • Workaround: avoid hovering; Cmd/Ctrl-click or copy the URL instead.

  1. Open an Agent chat that contains a GitHub PR URL (e.g. https://github.com/<org>/<repo>/pull/154).
  2. Hover the PR link (do not click).
  3. Observe the chat UI.

Expected Behavior

Expected
Hover shows a normal link preview/tooltip; chat content stays visible.

Actual
The entire chat view disappears / goes blank on hover.

Hey @Jason_Pratt, thanks for the clear report and repro steps, that matches exactly what we found.

This is a known issue in 3.20.9 and 3.20.10 that affects the Agent chat panel in the IDE when you hover a pull request link, and a fix has already landed. It will reach you in the next 3.20.x update, so please update when you see it and let us know if you still hit it!

For me the problem is similar, but it happens in the IDE Window.
It happens on a long hover before displaying the tooltip.
Hovering on a formatted PR link, the chat blanks out.
In the Agent Window I can hover and click on the PR link.

Yes, that is the same issue, and the fix is specifically for the IDE window. The Agent Window was never affected, which is why hovering works fine there for you.

The fix shipped in 3.20.14 and you are on 3.20.10, so please update to the latest version and hovering a PR link in the IDE chat should show the preview card without blanking the chat!
