How to disable the built-in browser panel completely?

Is there any way to fully disable or hide the built-in browser panel in Cursor? I don’t need it for my workflow and I’d prefer it not to be accessible at all. I’ve already turned off Browser Automation and Show Localhost Links, but the browser can still be opened manually via the “…” menu. Is there a setting, config file, or workaround to remove it completely?

Hey, thanks for the request. Short answer: you can’t fully hide or disable the built-in browser right now.

The settings you already turned off do this:

  • Browser Automation: prevents the agent or MCP from using the browser.
  • Show Localhost Links: stops localhost links from auto-opening in the browser.

Neither of these removes the manual entry points like the globe icon in the editor header, Command Palette, or the Cmd+Shift+J shortcut. There isn’t a separate setting or config to hide them completely at the moment.

If anything changes, I’ll reply in the thread.

Thanks a lot tho
