Every time I run locally, Cursor automatically opens its internal browser preview.
I don’t want this and I prefer my own browser.
I can’t find a simple setting to turn this off globally. How do I just stop Cursor from ever opening a browser pane automatically when a port starts?

I’m having the same issue and have been unable at this point to be able to turn it off. Every time I save my file, it opens up a browser internally.

"Same for me, whenever I reload my application, in this case hot reload with TypeScript, the ■■■■ browser page opens and I don’t want that. It’s really exhausting and frustrating to pay 20 dollars for this and have this type of bug

Could this bug be fixed as soon as possible? It’s become quite unbearable.

Same, it’s annoying.
Finally I found that it can be turn off in cursor settings.
I think it should be off by default…

When I run the frontend project and click “Local” in the terminal, I want it to open in an external browser instead of the built-in browser.

how come you dont have page open in browser and then just F5?

Indeed, the tag for preview closure is always active.

Yeah seems that Cursor is often very opinionated, but unfortunately their opinions are just wrong..
Like this latest release, this non-sense and hiding the prev/next change things Editor actions icon disappear
Would be nice if they at least would tell in the release notes about these changes and how to revert them…

Why this is opt-in? I don’t work with frontend.
Thanks all, it worked like a charm!

Thanks for the tip - disabled it immediately. But there is an annoying trend of Cursor updates that are making unwanted features opt-in (and some I still can’t turn off). The product has taken a downward turn as they are clearly trying to push unwanted nonsense on users to keep them inside their IDE… I’ve found myself turning off their features more often than not lately.

It seems to be the Anthropic models (Sonnet / Opus) that love opening a browser!
Composer / Gemini and GPT require explicit instruction to use it in my experience
