I recently stumble into an issue while using Chat in Cursor where it include the current opened file as context when sending request to GPT. This cost huge amount of tokens because I was opening a json file with tons of data.
How do I instruct Cursor to not include any file until I specifically ask it to?
If you chat with the codebase, you can open the advanced dropdown menu that shows up. In there, you can specify files that shall be ignored.
Unfortunately, there’s currently no quick way to exclude the currently opened file from being placed into the chat.
Is there any update on this? Would be great to just be able to ask a question to cursor without it pasting the entire file as context… seems excessive for a quick question especially on very large files
