Every month, nearly 800 bug reports come through this forum. We read all of them. Here’s what happens next.
We take bug reports seriously
When you submit a bug report, our team reviews it, attempts to reproduce the issue, and files it with our engineering team. If there’s a known workaround, we communicate it.
Your report doesn’t disappear into a void, it becomes part of how we prioritize what to fix.
Why reporting bugs matters
Cursor has a large and growing user base, which means we see a wide variety of workflows, configurations, and edge cases. When you report a bug, you help us understand which issues affect the most people and have the biggest impact on day-to-day work.
Bug reports help us:
- Identify patterns across multiple users experiencing the same issue
- Prioritize fixes based on real-world impact
- Catch problems we might not encounter in internal testing
Even if you see someone else has reported a similar issue, adding your report with your specific details (OS, configuration, steps to reproduce) helps us gauge severity and priority.
Not all bugs can be fixed immediately
Like any software, Cursor has to balance fixing bugs against building new features, maintaining stability, and addressing security concerns. Some bugs are quick fixes; others require deeper architectural work or have complex tradeoffs.
We prioritize based on how many users are affected, how severely the bug impacts workflows, and the complexity of the fix. A bug that breaks a core workflow for many users will move up the queue faster than a cosmetic issue affecting a niche configuration.
Details help us fix things faster
The bugs most likely to get fixed quickly are the ones our engineering team can reproduce. A report that says “Cursor crashes when I open a large TypeScript project with these extensions enabled” gives us something to work with. “Cursor keeps crashing” is harder to act on.
When you create a bug report, you’ll see a template. Please use it.
Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to report issues. It genuinely helps us make Cursor better for everyone.
