I am unable to open Cursor on my Windows laptop. When I try to open it, nothing happens

I am unable to open Cursor on my Windows laptop. When I try to open it, nothing happens.

  • I have tried all the suggested solutions, but none of them worked for me.
  • If I uninstall and reinstall the software, it works, but only until I restart my PC.
  • When I try to open Cursor from the terminal, I get the following error:
[0131/095133.823:FATAL:v8_initializer.cc(630)] Error loading V8 startup snapshot file
  • The logs folders are empty.

Right now i am unable to use cursor on my pc.

Hey, what version of Windows do you have? Also, let me know which version of Cursor you’re trying to install.

Thank you for the response

  • The version is Windows 11, version 23H2 x64 2024-08B
  • The version of cursor is the latest (0.45.5)

It seems this problem can be resolved by reinstalling, but you mentioned earlier that you’ve already done that. Did you completely uninstall Cursor? If not, try uninstalling it again and reinstalling it by following this guide:

Also, there’s a similar topic here, you might find another solution there. If not, let me know.

After uninstalling and deleting literally everything related to VS Code and older Cursor installations (folders, temp files), it seems to be working fine now.

i have also an issue with cursor on windows desktop, it just crashes while apparently doing stuff on the code in the background. the window becomes unresponsive after I send a request to composer. I get the window OOM out of memory after a bit. also it seems to have updated itself without any consent or request. I am on version 0.45.8

Can you try running Cursor without extensions, and see if that crashed?
You can do this by running this in a terminal: cursor --disable-extensions

I solve my issue by … to my great shame, because i didn’tthink of it before, satarting a new composer
