Grok 4.6 does require Max Mode on your plan, but Max Mode is billed based on actual work done, not just the fact that you made a request. A tiny prompt like “write hello world” uses a tiny amount. Bigger tasks use more. It can’t instantly “eat your whole month.”
You described the usage order correctly. First it uses your plan’s included usage, and only after that runs out, Grok 4.6 requests will automatically start charging against the $100 credit. The credit only covers Grok 4.6. The credit is extra and doesn’t reduce your included quota.
The last point isn’t quite right. When the credit runs out, you’re not “locked out of Cursor for the rest of the month.” You’ll just be in the normal state of “included is used up” for your plan, with the usual options like pay as you go if you choose to enable it. Everything resets at the start of the next billing cycle.
