Thanks for reporting this! This authentication session issue shouldn’t be happening.

To help diagnose this, could you please share:

  1. How did you install Cursor? (AppImage, .deb package, .rpm package, or another method)

  2. What Linux distribution and desktop environment are you using? (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04 with GNOME)

  3. Do you have a keyring/credential manager installed? (e.g., gnome-keyring, kwallet)

  4. Are you seeing any error messages when you’re logged out, or does it just silently require re-login?

In the meantime, if you installed via AppImage, you could try the .deb or .rpm packages from https://cursor.com/downloads - these integrate better with your system and might resolve the issue.

Hello Sanjeed.

  1. Installed via AppImage, I unpack it as usual, and this issue is very new.
  2. Latest Ubuntu with latest updates.
  3. Yes, but I don’t use with Cursor
  4. Not quietly. When I submit first chat it might require a login, and as I stated it happens when I change projects. I might close and reopen in another folder, or I might have two instances running in parallel and that is when it happens most.

I might try installing with .deb but this is a new thing. It has been happening in recent weeks.
