I pass Openrouter’s verify but i can not use my model
And in openrouter activity,it is successful. Please help me.I do not how to solve it.

Hey, can you let me know if you have a Pro subscription?

last month,i have a Pro.But this month,it is expired

But about three month ago,at that time,i do not subscribe cursor Pro.I remberber at that time,i was successful and i am happy about it.So it is about Pro subscription?

Is there any suggestion here?

This is because free users currently don’t have the ability to use API keys. I hope we can resolve this.

ALL right.Thank you!

I’m getting the same issue apparently:

  • Free user
  • I set up a custom model with open router
  • My API verification passes
  • I switch to Chat mode
  • I get the following error in a popup
  • I get the same with fireworks

Version: 1.0.0

VSCode Version: 1.96.2

Commit: 53b99ce608cba35127ae3a050c1738a959750860

Electron: 34.5.1

Chromium: 132.0.6834.210

Node.js: 20.19.0

V8: 13.2.152.41-electron.0

OS: Darwin arm64 24.2.0

I went on and subscribed to Pro to see if it resolved the issue but it does not.
That’s a bit disappointing.

I need to access a private instance, and I believe I’m doing everything right.

It’s the weirdest thing:

  • I’ve tried with several OpenAI models, using OpenRouter, thinking maybe Mistral was an issue, or that the trailing :free in the name might create a problem
  • All of them yield another error (see screenshot)
  • I retried the Mistral model, and it’s now working. But the OpenAI ones still aint

+1, after entering the api key, when I closed the settings page and re-entered it, the API key was cleared, idk what happened.

I use Pro subscription and the cursor version:

Version: 1.2.2
VSCode Version: 1.99.3

Hey, thanks for the report. Let me handle this.

Try enabling these options as OpenRouter allows the use of free models with these options enabled. In any case, if it doesn’t work, the model qwen/qwen3-coder works well for me.

Yes, I have enabled these options, but it still doesn’t work, neither the Free model nor the Paid model (I have sufficient balance in my OpenRouter account):

After entering the API key, when I closed the settings page and reopened it, the key was cleared. I’m not sure if this is the cause of the issue.

Could you let me know if you have a Pro subscription?

Sure~

Hey, we released a new update 1.3.8. Try updating and let me know if the issue persists.

Hi, Im still getting this issue. Im on the pro plan, however each time i enter my key it resets once i close the settings (same as the other guy). Ive checked for udpates however i believe im already on the new update.
