In Cursor it works well if you need a complex action, a complicated solution, or bug detection, use the more powerful one.
In their chat on OpenAI’s website, I still don’t fully understand how and whether it works well.

I am just sticking with gpt-5-fast for now, I haven’t switched it since haha. Maybe I will give [auto] a try soon also.

In fact, as I mentioned, FAST just means you get the answer faster — but if you’re happy, that’s great.
