I love Cursor, and I use it like many hours. 12 or more each day. two instances parallel and I have learned that I can run Codex CLI parallel to Cursor instances as well. Cursor do not open more instanced in same folder and I have not experienced further with other options.
Codex CLI is very light weight and it runs for minutes on end. Like it doesn’t stop until it concludes that it has finished the whole task.
Its simplicity is amazing and the other amazing thing is that it is accurate, at least with Next.js projects. It chews through them. And it is cheap. Now I don’t mean Cursor is expensive. Cursor is Cursor and is really good for heavy-lifting. Codex CLI is good for new and smaller projects.
