Introducing The X Subscription

Today we’re introducing The X Subscription, which brings together Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor, and X Premium in one plan. For the first time, one AI subscription supports the full path from thinking and creating to building and sharing.

What’s included:

  • Grok: chat, voice, and image and video generation.
  • Grok Bot: AI teammates that get work done.
  • Cursor: leading local and cloud coding agents.
  • X: a checkmark, creator tools, and fewer ads, with higher tiers removing ads from the timeline entirely.

What’s new for Cursor users:

  • One shared usage pool. Paid plans include a generous pool of Grok model usage shared across Grok and Cursor. It covers Grok models wherever you use them: the Grok apps, the Grok tab on X, or Cursor. Your allowance refreshes weekly, so one heavy day doesn’t use up your month.

  • More coding usage per dollar. Each X Subscription plan includes at least twice as much coding usage with Grok models as the comparable Cursor plan, and each comparable new tier provides more usage per dollar than the plan it replaces.

  • Third-party models still available. On Premium and above you can keep using third-party models in Cursor. That usage is billed separately at API list prices, through top-ups, and you can set spending caps. If you’re on a current Cursor plan, your included third-party usage continues until you switch.

  • Teams and Enterprise. Team users get Premium, Super, and Ultra at the same per-seat prices as individual plans: lower per seat than the older Cursor Teams plan, with 3x more coding usage, plus SSO, admin controls, consolidated billing, usage analytics, and SOC 2 compliance. Enterprise customers can manage Grok and Cursor from one dashboard with a single usage pool across both. Talk to sales to get started.

For full details on pricing, included usage, and eligibility, see the pricing page.

We’re rolling out the option to switch for existing Cursor, SuperGrok, and X Premium subscribers over the next few days. When it’s available to you, you’ll see it in your account billing settings.

We’d love to hear what you think, so share your thoughts and questions below. A couple of things to help us help you:

  • Anything specific to your account (a charge, a plan that didn’t carry over, the wrong account linked) is best handled by email at [email protected] with the email on your Cursor account and the X or Grok account you combined. We can’t view account details here, and we’ll keep this thread focused on feedback.
  • Hit an error while switching or combining? Post it in Bug Reports with a screenshot and roughly when it happened, and feel free to link it here.

if we subscribe ultra, does it mean we got cursor ultra as well?

Hey @aldinokemal, thanks for the question! I’ve moved it into the general announcement post.

Ultra on The X Subscription is a new plan, and yes, it includes Cursor usage. Your included usage is a shared pool of Grok model usage that works in Cursor, the Grok apps, and on X, and it refreshes weekly.

It isn’t the same as the previous Cursor Ultra plan, though, and that plan is no longer available for new signups. You can find the full details for each tier, including what usage is included, on the pricing page: https://x.ai/pricing

Hey Colin, if I understand this correctly existing Ultra Annual users will lose 3rd party usage if we switch to the new X subscription?

I’ve already subscribed to the new The X Subscription. Do I need to cancel my existing subscription?

if we currently have the $20 a month plan, how would we be transitioned?

Which plan should someone currently on Cursor’s $60 plan switch to?

Which plan should someone currently on Cursor’s $60 plan switch to?

I’m on the existing Cursor Ultra plan and mainly use third-party models in Cursor (Claude, GPT, and similar).

Could you confirm how third-party models are billed on The X Subscription (Premium, Super, and Ultra, including Teams)?

  1. Is there any included allowance for third-party models, with extra usage billed only after that allowance is used up?
  2. Or are third-party models excluded from the shared usage pool entirely, and billed at API list price through top-ups from the first request?

Also, if I stay on my current Ultra plan and do not switch, does my included third-party usage continue as it is today?

Bought the X Subscription, merged all of my accounts together, immediately got the refund. Now my grokbots are showing I can “start a trial” and no subscription even though when I login to the same account on x.ai it shows I have active subscription.

The merge seems to have failed, thus nuking my grokbot access. Everything else works. Same account for grok.com was merged and shows I have a sub, but on grokbot I have no plan and it wants me to sign up for a plan. Same account.

Question for those of us who got Cursor Ultra by linking SuperGrok Heavy over the summer. On Aug 15, staff confirmed in Free Cursor Ultra with Grok (posts #6 and #9) that the banner was right and Ultra stays active as long as Heavy stays active. Later the promo just disappeared from the help docs, and as far as I know there was never a dated end date (we asked about it in Did I miss an announcement on SuperGrok Heavy and Cursor Ultra?).

With the old Cursor Ultra plan now closed to new signups, does that Aug 15 answer still apply to existing claimants who keep Heavy active? And if we move to The X Subscription, does the shared pool replace that linked Ultra? A clear date either way would help a lot of people plan.

Hey @Colin, I switched from Cursor Pro to X Premium. Previously, I had separate quotas for Grok Bot and Cursor Cloud Agents. Now, my weekly usage seems to be depleting at the same rate as Grok Bot alone, making it feel like I have less overall usage. Does the advertised 2x usage apply only to Cursor, excluding Grok Bot? That seems odd, given Grok Bot was included in my Cursor plan. One would expect 2x weekly usage of Cursor + Grok Bot since they were part of the same plan?
