I’ve stuck with Cursor’s old $20 pricing model because it worked really well for my workflow. I had 500 requests per month, and Claude Opus 4.6 was costing 2 requests per chat. For the way I use Cursor, that was great value.
But it looks like something changed today. Looking at my usage, individual Opus chats are now consuming a significant amount of usage, and suddenly the $20 plan feels much more limited.
For those of you on the current $20 Pro plan, are you actually getting enough usage out of it for daily development work?
I’d specifically like feedback from people who use Opus regularly: How quickly are you going through your included usage, and have you changed your workflow because of the new pricing?
If the $20 plan no longer works well for heavier Opus usage, what alternatives are you using? Claude Code, Codex, something else?
I’m on a team account but we’re just on the base plan for all members. It’s not anywhere near enough anymore. If I use only Cursor in-house models for light use I can stretch it to last me the full month.
A few months ago my team also got a Claude organization set up (also base tier). Our non-dev team members use Claude Desktop heavily, so we added it for devs to try out Claude Code. Now, I use Claude Code heavily for most of my dev work. Plus I use Claude Desktop for all sorts of non-dev stuff. I’ve literally never hit a single Claude usage limit despite a lot of daily use. (I do mostly use Sonnet, rarely Opus).
I still use Cursor here and there, I really like the IDE interface and typically use it for double-checking Claude’s work, or in ask mode to learn about the codebase and plan things out. Even with this light usage and in-house only models it seems like my usage drains away at an alarming rate.
