Is There Any Real Value Left in the Cursor Pro Plan or Pro+ After the Latest Update?

Cursor, you’re saying Pro ($20/mo) is for users mainly using Tab with casual agent usage. But tell me one thing — who’s gonna pay just to use Tab? Everyone using Cursor wants Agent Mode. For any serious coding task, we need at least Claude Sonnet 4-level performance. So I don’t really get the point of the Pro or even Pro+ plans. The only plan that actually makes sense is the Ultra plan, where Agent Mode is usable — but that’s $200/month. And at that price, there are way better options. Claude Code, for example, gives you almost unlimited access to their top Opus model, with limits resetting every 5 hours. So honestly, Claude Code is the clear winner here.

Should I switch to Claude Code? This recent update is nuts, $40 of spend in the first 2 hours of coding. I don’t understand if they once again broke the token calculations. But a few days ago I was doing 8+hrs of claude-4 agent coding and it was all included in the subscription, not even usage based increase.

What is going on??

Same here, I had Pro Plus subscription. Everything used after 5 days and today it charged me $2 for a simple refactoring. Paused everything, cancelled the subscription. It was a great tool but there is no value at the moment and feels more like a rip off

claude code have the “sessions” similar to fail try of cursor where each 5 hours the session restart up 50 sessions per month, a session start when you send an interaction, for example i use a lot this i have cursor and windsurf cursor feel better than windsurf but in averall both are great the main difference is sonnet 4

then, the new billing is awful i use a lot i think the have a bug the last weekend because i spend 750 usd, but if the usage limit is the 20 USD the 500 credits of the old credit based is perfect for extended use where you are making refactor or working with huge code, if you only work with simples task, for just a few usage and just isolated edition the new billing is great and cheap only for that but the power user can spend the whole month on two days xD

With the new billing i think that is more cheap the cline or roo code are free and you pay only for the tokens, i have oss projects and i have a lot of free tokens then sometimes is better cline or put my api key on cursor/windsurf (with o3 a medium complex querie take up 1 million tokens)

PD. sorry for my spanglish

Unfortunately, the Pro plan doesn’t really make sense anymore. I’ll most likely cancel my subscription. Why should I use Cursor for quick, simple tasks? Instead of paying for Cursor, I can just pay $17 per month for Claude. We mainly used Cursor for Agent mode and more complex tasks.

Agree, just give us back unlimited slow requests with Sonnet

You won’t believe it.

Each model has it’s strengths. Claude-4 with RIPER-5 does great research and plan, but sometimes I feed that into gemini-pro because gemini-pro just is better at handling certain code files I’ve noticed from hundreds of hours coding.

Switch between o3, gemini, claude 4 sonnet, and grok. You’ll see they have inherant strengths for specific tasks.

Agreed

Can someone explain to me what’s happening with the prices? It’s become extremely worrying.

This is impossible to keep up with, I don’t know what’s going on after the latest update

no this project is dead as ■■■■. full of gaslighting models that say it does something but it doesnt. then you give it the exact fix and location of the problem. and it generates the problem back in. I mean congrats cursor, you just built the dumbest ■■■■■■■ paired programmer.
