What about MCP servers?
Antigravity has MCP server support though Python servers seem to have issues. It looks promising. Cursor has strong competition now.
Google stepped up their AI game. Currently using Antigravity, with Opus 4.5 with frequent rate limit resets, I’m on a $20 plan and I rarely reach my limit before it resets. Of course this is just their introductory free period, so I don’t know how long we can enjoy this, but the longer the better. Even if Opus 4.5 will be priced high eventually, Gemini 3 is very capable too. I think it’s a bit unfair to companies like Cursor, I hope they find out something to stay afloat. I think other model providers should help out Cursor with freely or cheaply available models if they want to stay relevant.
Can’t have an ad company winning, greedy google makes enough money with his fake click empire
So I guess I came backwards into Cursor compared to others… I started with ChatGPT Pro @ $20 per month… then found VS Code + ChatGPT Codex which gave me pretty much what Cursor does…. the only advantage I see to Cursor is access to more Models… I got Claude Pro and ChatGPT Codex integrated in with VS Code and it feels like Cursor to me.
So now I have settled on Cursor just so when new models come out my hope is that Cursor will include them and I won’t have to keep paying for new models on an individual basis…. So Cursor seems to make sense for me…. with the one exception of I really liked installing “code-server” on my VPS so I can jump on it from my phone or iPad and have it work on things for me via ChatGPT Codex…. I wish Cursor has a code-server equivalent.
Then I came across Zencoder / Zenflow… I guess it’s just another cursor? Antigravity is again, another VS Code with its own models built in…. Essentially I feel like I either have to pay for every specific model and get its VS Code extension… or I use Cursor and it handles all the models for me.
Other than that… I don’t see anything truly compelling about Cursor… but Im hopeful that some of the new features will up its value over straight VS Code + Extensions.
