Update to Teams and Auto Pricing

Hey all,

Please check out our latest blog post to learn more about upcoming billing changes: aligning the Team plan to the variable request cost system Pro has already transitioned to and updating the pricing structure of Auto.

These changes will occur at your next billing renewal after September 15. For example, if you bought a yearly subscription at June 2025, these changes would only take effect at June 2026.

the wording isn’t clear, so auto isn’t free anymore from sep 15?

Unbelievable — your current auto model only knows how to navigate to Claude 4 and never bothers to think.

In the past, you’ve done so many unreasonable things that I don’t even want to comment on any of your actions. But now I’m facing a situation where I might not be able to meet my monthly request quota at all, and I have to spend more money. I don’t know what unique features Cursor has that would justify me paying only for you. With this kind of pricing, why wouldn’t I just choose VSCode and Copilot instead? Once this month’s subscription ends, I’ll switch to VSCode Copilot.

There is no way this company will exist in 2 years in any shape or form.

Anyway…if we have paid for the year, does that mean we will have unlimited auto for the next year since the next billing cycle is after September 15th? Or, is it unlimited for now until September 15th?

Is this a new “recent pricing changes were not communicated clearly” kinda thing?

I have a concern about the yearly subscription. I feel like the pricing changes every month. It’s already been four months, and each time I worry about what pricing you will introduce next, and whether my current plan will still be affordable.

I subscribed to get the yearly discount, and I’m from a third-world country — for some people, $16 or $20 might not be much, but for us, that’s a huge amount.

I feel sad and betrayed every time you and your team change the pricing without prior notice. Even now, I’m confused — what will happen next month?

I’m protesting because you keep changing the pricing each month, even though I subscribed yearly.

No more auto after reaching limit.

Hold on. Now more than ever, I really need you to keep your API running smoothly.
I anticipated this situation, so I’m currently using Olllm Quintran Skoder via π in agent mode. I’m making unlimited requests, and it’s working excellently with the tools I teach in my course.

Please, I’m sincerely asking—do not make this agent stop working in future versions.
Paying for usage beyond the current limits is simply unaffordable. Through the Open Rolter API and Chutes AI, I’m able to make many requests per day, and it’s integrating perfectly with my course.

All I ask is that you allow us from the PO meme community to continue using the smaller models in a limited way, or at least don’t change the API from how it currently works.

This setup allows me to work efficiently with the Queen model without consuming your credits, and I’m still paying for the Pro plan to implement improvements in the application model.

If you change how the API operates today, I won’t have a choice—I’ll have to stop using your services.

That’s what he literally said.

For example, if you bought a yearly subscription at June 2025, these changes would only take effect at June 2026.

I have been open to alternatives. I like this solution where I can still use the Cursor IDE with tabs, restore checkpoints, diffs. Thanks.

Just 21 days we were being reassured Auto remained free. What a ride: Auto Mode Now Charged? - #7 by danperks

And here you can see screenshots of Cursor gradually removing “Unlimited” Auto from their docs while in the same thread reassuring us it was just for “clarity”. I think it’s clear now, they were planning to get rid of unlimited Auto, and probably kept it to soothe the last pricing policy change. But at least if you are on annual membership you’ll keep the unlimited Auto for the rest of your term, or at the most til something else changes.

What I don’t want is for them to remove the tolls from the APIs as I mentioned above. I like the cursor and will continue using it as long as the open router and chute keys work. I don’t think it would be so unprofessional to take away the API and force them to pay for usage!! In the end, I just want their ID and their application model, which is amazing.

This is exactly why you never and I never commit to yearly with these guys.

Another rug pull, after all the other rug pulls.

Hope they are going to honor the yearly subscriptions especially for users in third world countries auto usage otherwise surely this is a lawsuit ?

The opposite could happen as people try to lock in the unlimited Auto for a year. Of course that relies on people trusting Cursor to honor their word.

Oh I hadn’t heard about chutes, thanks for the heads up

Yeah it certainly changes the equation for a lot of people now. This could be last straw.

Wouldn’t the annual plan be affected as well? Or am I missing something here?
