Issue with Cursor AI – Persistent Hanging During Task Execution

Describe the Bug

Dear Cursor AI Support Team,

I’ve been a regular user of Cursor AI, and I greatly appreciate your product. However, I’ve recently been encountering a recurring issue that is impacting my workflow.

When I assign small tasks to the Composer—like editing just one or two lines in a code file—the first line is usually processed without any issue. However, when it moves on to the second line, the cursor often gets stuck in a loading state, represented by a spinning circle in the editor. This spinning sometimes resolves after 30 seconds to a minute, but in many cases, it never resolves and I encounter an error.

I’ve been facing this particular problem for the past week. I am using the latest version of Cursor AI (v1.2.4 Universal) on my MacBook. This issue only started occurring after I updated to this latest version. Previously, I never experienced this problem.

Interestingly, larger tasks sometimes complete without any issue. But on an average day, this hanging issue occurs at least 10 to 15 times, particularly when working on small files or edits. The editor just keeps spinning indefinitely at times.

I’ve attached a screenshot to demonstrate the problem visually.

I would appreciate any assistance or guidance on resolving this issue.

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Devendar Singh

Steps to Reproduce

I’m using Cursor AI on my MacBook, and my working drive is synced with iCloud. I have iCloud set up to automatically sync my Desktop and Documents folders. I keep all my coding projects in a folder on my Desktop, which is synced with iCloud. With the new version of Cursor AI, I’m encountering an issue. The developers can reproduce the bug by setting up a similar environment: MacBook with iCloud syncing enabled for Desktop and Documents folders, and working on a project located on the Desktop.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report. Could you share the request ID? For this, you need to disable privacy mode if it’s enabled, then reproduce the issue when it happens again and copy the ID.
