Keeps switching to Agent layout instead of Editor layout (my default layout) every time I open a new codebase

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Every time I open a new codebase in the Cursor code editor, it switches to the Agent layout and has a little popup about it. It was fine the first time to show that it exists, but it keeps doing it every time and it is extremely annoying. If I want to use the Agent layout I will switch to it on my own, it’s very easy to do as the popup demonstrated. Being forced to manually switch back to my prefered layout everytime I switch to a new set of files is very annoying and causing much user-friction.

Steps to Reproduce

Open up a new codebase in Cursor

Expected Behavior

It should only have a popup telling you about the other layout, forcing users to switch is very aggressively annoying.

Hey, thanks for the report.

Looks like a bug with saving layout preferences. I’ve seen similar reports in the last few days.

To pass to the dev team, could you share your Cursor version? (Help > About Cursor)
