Switch to Agent Layout button changes location

Describe the Bug

When I click on “Switch to Agent Layout” button in the top-right toolbar, it changes location. In Editor mode, it is the 4th button from the right. In Agent mode, it is the second button from the right. The switch button should remain static on screen, so I can switch the modes back and forth easily.

This switch becomes progressively worse with every change. I really liked the separate “Agent window”. Switching between modes was annoying enough when the switch was large and didn’t jump.

Now the switch is a really small button that is hard to find, and on top of it, it jumps between modes.

Please return the separate Agent Window. At the very list, please stop the switch button from jumping around.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open Cursor.
2. Locate “Switch to Agent Layout” button (two arrows: → on top ← on the bottom)
3. Click the button

Expected Behavior

The button does not move after click

Hey, thanks for the report. You’re right that the toggle button moving between different positions makes it harder to switch back and forth quickly.

This looks like a UX issue that should be fixed. I’ve noted your feedback about:

• The button jumping between the 4th and 2nd position from the right
• Your preference for the previous separate Agent window
• The button being harder to find now

I’ll pass this on to the team. In the meantime, you can use Cmd+E (macOS) or Ctrl+E (Windows/Linux) to switch between the Editor and Agent layouts without hunting for the button.
