Last week my context area frequently showed an entry named ‘All files.’ But now that’s not happening. Any ideas why?

Hi all. I’m new to Cursor, and have been using it on a new project for a couple weeks now. Early on, on a few Cursor requests, I distinctly remember the ‘Context’ area containing one and only one entry, named something like All files or All project files. But I haven’t seen that in a week or so now. Does anyone know what exactly was causing that at the time?

I unfortunately cannot remember if it was with Chat or Composor, nor did I get a screenshot. I tried submitting my request with ctrl+enter, but cannot reproduce thats.

The immediate goal of this post isn’t to add all project files to context (although that might be welcome). The goal of this post is to understand how/why I was seeing that particular entry in context, and why it’s not occurring anymore.

Thansk in advance.

Hey, I can’t say I’m familiar with what you are referring to here! If you have a screenshot, that’d be great, but it may have just been a bug in a slightly older version which has been patched now.

OK fair enough–thanks for chiming in on that. I’ll try to see if I can reproduce that and get a screenshot.

Before we go though, I’ll ask one more follow-up question. So does ctrl+enter inside Composer server to add all project files to context? I was told that once, and early testing seemed to corroborate it. But current testing indicates otherwise. If not, is there a way to add all project files to context at once?

If there isn’t, no worries. I believe I can add entire folders at once, so that should be good enough at the moment.

Hey, we use a system behind the scenes that takes your prompt, and uses it to find the most relevant sections of your code to send to the AI. This uses the codebase indexing to power it, but to be clear, your codebase isn’t sent anywhere to do this!

In Composer specifically, I believe @codebase is correct there. Chat has CTRL+Enter and Agent can do it itself.

Hi Dan,

OK thanks for that info.

In Composer specifically, I believe @codebase is correct there. Chat has CTRL+Enter and Agent can do it itself.

Actually I spoke with my friend yesterday–the some one who originally turned me on to ‘adding all project files to context.’ He told me that at the time, he was specifically talking about Chat, not Composer. And I can see that my Chat has a ‘codebase ctrl+’ button in the bottomr right, while my Composer simply has a 'submit button in that same space. So I was going to tell you that I was probably thinking of Chat this whole time, not Composer.

Anyway, let’s call this issue resolved. I have another question, which may or may not be related. But I’ll create a new topic.

Thanks!
