Latest update reset settings around deletion, Cursor deleted files

Describe the Bug

Upon installation I had set ‘Auto-Run Mode’ to ‘Ask Every Time’. After this latest update, that was reset to ‘Use Allowlist’. My Allowlist is empty. Even in this state, I would assume that the agent would not have the ability to delete files.

The model (GPT-5-high-fast) decided to delete a file, it didn’t ask for confirmation beforehand. Hitting ‘undo all’ did not bring the file back, I had to git reset.

Steps to Reproduce

I presume some update between 1.2.4 and 1.4.3 caused a config reset. I used the auto-update mechanism within the app.

Expected Behavior

Settings should carry across updates.

Don’t delete files without asking explicit permission by default.

An empty allowlist does not mean file deletion is in the allowed list.

Deleting files without explicit permission by default is untenable. That should absolutely be an opt-in feature.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report. You can change it to “Ask every time” anyway.
