Lego Master Builder - Vibe Coding Breakthrough

I Finally Broke Through – Thanks to Cursor!

Hey everyone :waving_hand:

I just wanted to drop a note of encouragement. After months of trial and error, I’ve finally had a breakthrough — I can now confidently take on any coding project, whether it’s a web app, Shopify add-on, API integration, MCP logic, and beyond — all thanks to Cursor.

The Journey: Bolt, Databutton, Replit… and Beyond

I’ve tried nearly every modern dev tool out there:

Each had its strengths — some felt like slick POGs, really great at one specific thing. But none of them gave me the holistic, intuitive flow and setup like Cursor does.

The Struggle Was Real…

It took me 3 months of wrestling with these tools — and even Cursor in the beginning — to get anywhere with Next.js / React / Supabase. The real “aha!” moment came after Claude explained why even seasoned devs struggle when combining Supabase with Next.js.

That insight unlocked it all.

The Breakthrough Stack

Now, with the help of AI and Cursor, I’m flying through builds using:

  • React
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Supabase
  • Vite
  • Lucide React
  • React Router
  • React Hot Toast
  • Node.js
  • Git + Netlify

:light_bulb: I didn’t come up with this stack myself — AI guided me through setup and integration, all within Cursor. It even configured complex environments for me with MCPs, Supabase rule sets, and tools like 21-1st dev magic and Desktop-Commander (Claude app).

And the best part?

Cursor just gets it done.
On auto mode. In minutes. First try. 98% of the time.

I Feel Free to Build Anything Now

I’ve hooked everything into the powerful backend of my site, diji.art. From here, I’m building out:

  • A custom front end with ease
  • Pro API add-ons (credit-based)
  • A Shopify app for store owners to tap into my platform
  • Desktop apps for Windows/Mac/Linux
  • And possibly… my own lightweight 3D animation engine — think Rive, but for storytelling in 3D!

I genuinely believe what I’ve done so far would have cost over $25K and taken a full-time dev 3 months. I’ve done it in a week with ~4 hours/day using Cursor + AI. :exploding_head:

Curious About Your Flow

  • What tools or stacks are working for you?
  • Are you building in Unity, Blender, SaaS, games, or something else?
  • Anyone else feel this kind of momentum or “vibe coding” power?

I’m even considering launching a new YouTube channel just to document this wild ride (outside of my experimental ones like @boxels and @familylifestudios) — both of which I created and animated just to de-stress and explore YouTube’s algorithmic maze.

Final Thought

This really all boils down to:

  • Your ability to focus
  • Willingness to learn compatible tech stacks
  • Understanding how to set up MCPs, rules, and get comfy with GitHub, Netlify, Supabase workflows

Currently exploring OpenAI Codex too. Curious if Cursor will integrate it, or if it’ll just be another luxury dev toy like Databutton (which never quite clicked for me the way Cursor has — step by step).

Anyone else catch the same wave?

Let’s build something world-changing. :rocket:

Master Builder Mode: Activated :brick::rocket:

Anyone here seen The LEGO Movie?

If you have kids, you probably have — and if you remember that moment when Emmet finally “sees everything” and becomes a Master Builder, you’ll get what I mean.

That’s exactly how this past week has felt for me.
Once the breakthrough hit, I’ve been like a kid in a massive pile of LEGO bricks. But now, I don’t just build randomly — I envision what I want, plan it out (in my head or a Google Doc — which, by the way, my MCP agent can access), and just tell the agent what to do.

And it does it. Not just like a tool slapping blocks together, but in a way that actually captures the vision I had.

95% Cursor Magic, 5% Claude Sanity Checks

Sure, I still have to nudge things occasionally. I’ll ask Claude outside of Cursor to double-check or refine parts of the build — but that’s maybe 5% of the time. The other 95%? Cursor in Auto Mode just gets it done.

MAX Mode… Meh.

I’ll be honest — MAX Mode hasn’t helped me much. If anything, it’s often made things worse by creating what I’d call “AI spaghetti” — tangled, jumbled logic that misses the structure and vision I was aiming for.

What’s worked far better is a sequential, scaffolded process:

  1. Establish structure first (folders, routes, file hierarchy)
  2. Use AI to generate the site spec documentation
  3. Define the rules, roles, and logic
  4. Then build section by section, clearly and cleanly

This step-by-step vibe coding approach has let me finally feel like a builder, not just a prompt engineer.

POG reference:

It was a fad… what some of these vibe code platforms feel like, an expensive fad… of my childhood.

so are you sharing this “workflow” and MPCs or jut bragging? :upside_down_face:

lol.

I’m hoping to do a youtube AMA with a popular vibe coder on it. If I do, I’ll share here for all.

So… both. But not a brag, but like a kid sharing something he found crazy cool and magical ;D

When you make posts like this, please use an ai model to make it more comprehensive and digestible for other users.

The way you write seems very difficult for me to follow, unsure about others though. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Glad you’ve had success in your endeavor and systemized something that works with for You (?)
