Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Describe the Bug

Lost complete chat history after updating Cursor IDE to 2.4.28. I don’t have a windows backup either. Not sure if there is a way to recover.

Steps to Reproduce

Update Cursor IDE to 2.4.28 (latest as of today). Then open Cursor IDE and look for chat history.

Expected Behavior

It should retain all the chat history even after app updates.

Windows 10/11

Hi @Shiva_K Thanks for the forum post! That version of Cursor is still pretty old (about 3 months)
I recommend updating to the latest version of Cursor.

Once you do, you can ask Cursor to help you look for your old chats to see if there are still on your computer. Not a guarantee that this will work but there’s a chance. If you find them, you can import them into a folder in your workspace so that Cursor can reference them and see them and you can easily search your old chats.
