Memories get deleted when reloading window

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Memories get deleted when reloading window. I had over 30+ saved Memories, and one day I realized that the Agent wasn’t using them, so when I checked Cursor Settings, I found out none were there.

The issue might’ve started happening in older versions than that of mentioned in this report, but I discovered the bug in this one.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Save a new Memory (or look at your pre-saved Memories) in Cursor Settings > Rules & Memories.
  2. Reload the Cursor window with “Shift+Cmd+P → Developer: Reload Window”.
  3. Go back to Cursor Settings, and your Memories have been cleared out.

Expected Behavior

Memories should persist across reloads

Thank you for the detailed report. I was able to reproduce it on 1.7.46.
Have also sent the info to the team.

I updated my Cursor to 1.7.52 (latest Early Access) and all memories show again.

@dny_ex could you please try on latest and let me know if the memory still doesn’t load.
I can not reproduce the issue on latest.

How did you download this version though?

Cursor is telling me that 1.7.46 is the latest one.

Are you on Early Access release channel? If yes, Cursor will automatically download the new version. Otherwise it may take a day or two until we push it to the Default release channel.

I’m not, so I guess I’ll have to wait.

Thanks for the help, Condor.

As I tested all the memories came back and none were lost for me.

My fear is that I once again start saving up Memories; and then when I’m at 30, 40, 50 Memories, this bug happens again and I lose them all one more time.

I don’t even remember all the Memories that I’d saved before.

You will be able to review the memories once your Cursor updates to 1.7.52+.

Yep, updated to 1.7.52, and they’re there. Nice!

Im on version 1.7.54 on a MBA M2. I’ve been storing memories aggresively for the last 8 months now and I don’t see them anymore. I haven’t been seeing them from the last few updates now. It’s an absolute shame if these are lost forever. Would appreciate any help on this.

Just wanted to know, does Privacy mode being enabled have anything to do with this feature?

I’ve shot out an email to show this too.

I have the same issue

hi @Karan_Uday does logging out and in again help to re-conect and download the memories?

They should not be lost and they are synced to your device.

Current Privacy mode allows for storage of memories, though if you are on Legacy Privacy mode they would not be stored, but you should see that in settings.

@anonix98 coud you share more details (Cursor version and how the issue occurs)

Worked like a charm! Thanks for the suggestion @condor ! Appreciate the help.
