Why can’t I @ mention files or folders within a markdown file?
I currently use markdown files to generate product requirements and it would be great to be able to @ mention files/folders/notepads for context.

Hi @hmoran
Right now, it’s not working. I’ll note it as a feature request, thanks.
Do you mean passing a markdown file to Cursor where we have linked/mentioned other files to automatically pass those mentioned files to Cursor as well?
I would also like to use this feature to automate tasks/processes/workflows with Cursor. For example, we have Markdown documentation files for certain processes like updating configuration files. In it we have specified the configuration file path so you can easily jump to the file and also the instructions on how to update the configuration.
At the moment, I need to pass this Markdown documentation file as well as the configuration file to Cursor so that Cursor can do this task for me.
It would be great if Cursor could automatically recognize linked files in Markdown documents, or if linked files could be automatically attached to the Cursor context.
This would open the door to automating entire processes and workflows with Cursor. Just attach the right documentation files for a specific task and write the task instructions, and Cursor could do the job completely on its own.
And as a next step, we may be able to utilize Cursor’s semantic search to find the right documentation files for a specific job so that we do not even need to search for the right documentation. Just send the task instructions using the “chat with codebase” feature and Cursor finds the documentation, the linked files within it and does the job.
Yes,
this would be fantastic feature. Currently we have quite big md file for prompt, then we have to tag additional files for prompt completeness. It would be fantastic to have this feature
