Grok Bot told me it had no API way to undraft and merge xAI Origin PRs, so it’s currently using browser use to complete those tasks. Am I missing something? Does Origin not have a connection to Grok Bot to do this programmatically?
Hi @Zachariah Thanks for the post! Glad to see you making great use of Grok Bot.
Grok Bot does have a connection to Origin: its computer gets an authenticated origin CLI, which is what it uses to look up your repos, pull requests, diffs, and checks. Right now, that connection is intentionally read-only. Actions that change a PR, like marking it ready for review or merging it, are not done directly from Grok Bot yet, so when you ask for them, it falls back to doing it in the browser. Merging is a deliberate human step for now.
Here’s two options that might make this smoother in the meantime:
- Skip the draft step entirely. When you ask Grok Bot to hand work to a cloud agent, add “open the pull request ready for review, not as a draft”. PRs default to draft unless you say otherwise.
- For a PR that is already a draft, ask Grok Bot to have the cloud agent that opened it mark it ready for review. The cloud agent’s own PR tool can do that on Origin, no browser needed.
For the merge itself, the fastest paths are the Merge button on the PR page at cursor.com/codebase, or origin pr merge <number> (or --auto to merge when checks pass) from your own machine with the Origin CLI.
We are working on expanding what Grok Bot can do directly on Origin, and I have passed your request along.
it’s been doing great at my specific workflow - highly specific experts for each part of each workflow. I haven’t had a reason not to trust the merge. The work-around is computer use from the repo specialist “RepoMan” 
. But I’d rather not burn tokens for computer use. Cheers to all the team(s) have accomplished; it’s really joy to use.
