Missing chat history in Agents Window

Hi Cursor Support,

my old chat history is missing in Agents Window. Only one recent chat appears in Today, and Archived is empty. I am on the same account with active Pro subscription. I already reinstalled Cursor, restarted app, and checked filters/search. Please check identity mapping and restore/sync my chat history.`

Hey, this is a known bug after upgrades or reinstalls in 3.0.12. The Agents Window sidebar can lose track of existing sessions even though the transcripts are still saved on disk. There’s no ETA for a fix yet, but we’re tracking it.

Quick check to confirm your data is still there: open ~/.cursor/projects/ in Finder. You should see one folder per workspace, with an agent-transcripts/ subfolder that contains JSONL files. If those files are there, your history is intact, it’s just not indexed in the UI.

A couple things to try before the fix lands:

  • Open the workspace from the exact same path as before. If the path changed, the index mapping can get orphaned.
  • If you have Time Machine or other backups from before the reinstall, restoring ~/Library/Application Support/Cursor/User/workspaceStorage/ and globalStorage/ can bring the sidebar back.

If the transcripts on disk are also gone, not just missing from the sidebar, let me know. That’s a different case.
