Mobile web app - Caret does not move on tap

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

In cloud agent mobile UI. At https://cursor.com/agents.
(Please move this from “cloud-agents” to “browser” tag)

Describe the Bug

Browser glitch in mobile web app - in agents chat - on Android device.

Clicking in text area does not move caret to the clicked location.
This makes it extremely annoying and frustrating to edit agent chat prompts in Android.

This has been happening for a couple months now! Please help!
Sorry I did not post a bug report earlier. I did, but without any video content to illustrate the problem. Person reviewing my bug report few weeks ago was not able to reproduce. So here is more information. Please watch the video.

This happens in ALL browsers, using ALL keyboards. It may be limited to Samsung phones. I forget if I tried a Google Pixel phone or other brand of phone. It started happening after an Android update couple months ago.

Steps to Reproduce

Open cursor agents web page in any Android device.
Latest OS version 16. Any browser. Any keyboard.

Type some words.
Tap in the middle of a word. Nothing happens. Caret does not move.
Tap anywhere in the text editable input field. Caret does not move.
The only way to make the caret move is to click and hold - but this selects the entire word.

Currently it is not possible to click and move the caret to another location.
This makes it extremely difficult to edit the prompt.

Expected Behavior

When user taps on a word/character/space in the cursor agent prompt text area, caret is expected to move to the tapped location. But it does not move. Not possible to move the caret without selecting a word. Before latest Android OS version 16, it worked fine. Now it’s broken.

Version Information

Website: https://cursor.com/agents
Android OS version 16.
It worked fine in Android OS version 15. Problem started happening after upgrading to 16.

This upgrade of Android included several subtle UI issues in text-areas and input text fields. Developers of websites and apps are expected to update to latest standards. However, Cursor website is the worst. Cursor mobile web app is affected much more than other apps and sites.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey, thanks for the detailed report and the video, everything’s clear.

This is a bug in our text editor Lexical when it interacts with Android 16. The Android update changed how contenteditable elements behave, and our input isn’t handling it correctly. The team knows mobile web needs work, and I’ve shared this specific caret case for prioritization.

Let me know if you find any more details or if the behavior changes.
