Model for Code Decisions?

The start of year was peaceful; we only had Sonnet 3.5. That’s the one we used for pretty much everything in coding.

Now a days, it’s a bit confusing. I wanna ask you guys which model are you using for when you want to brainstorm a problem and figure out the best simplest solution to it, of course it requires my own research and input as well, but basically, I’d like a model which doesn’t just say “You’re absolutely right”, I want it to say “No, you’re wrong” when appropriate.

Unfortunately, Cursor is expensive now and I can’t experiment much, so hoping if someone has this figured out.

i try with grok coder, handles easy tasks and sometime even complicated ones, if not i move to gpt 5 and if that struggles i try sonnet 4, this chain is cheapest to the most expensive and i find it doing a good job

If price is an issue, GPT-5-mini is inexpensive and I think unofficially free for Pro subscriptions.
