Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

I missed the word “we” in question, which resulted in a prompt (in a new chat context) that was so insanely ambiguous, and off it goes making changes without asking follow up.

Steps to Reproduce

ask it to do something highly ambiguous.

Expected Behavior

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the details and screenshot. This looks like the same class of issue with “too agent-like” behavior (related thread: PLAN mode switches to AGENT mode without user input, causes extensive damage) - the team is already investigating.

To track the session accurately, please send:

  • Request IDs from this conversation (Chat menu → Copy Request ID; instructions: Getting a Request ID | Cursor Docs). If Privacy Mode is on, temporarily disable it and try again.
  • The mode at the time of the edits (Agent/Ask/Plan)
  • Step by step: the exact request(s) before changes started, if a Review diff appeared, and if you clicked anything before applying
  • Console logs (Help → Toggle Developer Tools → Console) when reproducing

Temporary workarounds to avoid unwanted edits:

Please send the Request IDs - I’ll pass them to the engineers and link your case to the ongoing investigation.
