Multiselect behaviour

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

When multiple folders are selected in the Explorer using Ctrl + click, the selection is not cleared when right-clicking another folder without holding Ctrl. If the user right-clicks a third folder and selects “Add to Chat”, Cursor adds all previously selected folders plus the newly clicked folder to the chat instead of only the folder that was right-clicked.

Steps to Reproduce

Steps to reproduce

Open the Explorer in Cursor.

Hold Ctrl and click to select two folders.

Release the Ctrl key.

Right-click on a different (third) folder without holding Ctrl.

Click “Add to Chat.”

Expected Behavior

Right-clicking a folder without holding Ctrl should clear the previous multi-selection and select only the folder that was right-clicked. Therefore, only the third folder should be added to the chat.

Windows 10/11

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hi Chri,

Thank you for reporting this with reproduction steps. I’ve confirmed this is a known area of improvement & have added your report to an existing tracking issue with our engineering team.

As a workaround, you can click on a blank area in the Explorer to clear your multi-selection before right-clicking the folder you want to add.

We’ll look into the behavior. Thank you for flagging this.

Best,
Mohit
