My company is considering switching to Cursor, and having the entire development team use Cursor. My team currently is primarily using Github Copilot. What would be some of the benefits to switching to Cursor as apposed to just using Github Copilot? I would love to hear feedback from other teams that have made the switch to Cursor. Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and I look forward to reading the responses.
I use cursor and copilot for personal stuff, I think cursor faster but more costly to use better model sonnet 4 is 2x the normal rate. I would assume the rules for teams would also be very useful.
Why is your company considering Cursor? Is there something Copilot lacks?
naaa, Cursor is very expensive, try codex first
Cursor is the best agent-integrated IDE out there. But it’s also the most expensive out there. Your company might need a strategy for how to use it.
Cursor is great! I would recommend it from personal experience with a org of 1000+ engineers. I would recommend engaging the Cursor team and talking with them on a plan to help your company ensure success.
Honestly, don’t. I switched recently from Cursor to Copilot in VSCode after the pricing become unsustainable for me. I regret nothing. Codex+Copilot is amazing, and the pricing clear.
The only thing that I missed at first is Cursor’s autocompletion. But Copilot’s autocompletion improved a lot in the last months, and it’s perfectly usable now.
what is the price difference between cursor and copilot/codex for your usage?
Try codex instead, better quality.
Cursor has some team features, tho (shared rules?). It’s a minor tooling effort to replicate.
My company was evaluating both Copilot and Cursor for about 2 months, and we made the decision to go with Cursor this month.
The Cursor team has been great to work with. They have demos and how-to meetings that allow our devs and non-devs to ask questions.
We have over 2,000 users that are using Cursor daily.
Looking forward to great partnership.
